I have attached our Important Dates, Strength Camp brochure, the 2020 Football Schedule, and this week’s Mindset Training. We will give paper copies to your son, but I know they don’t always make it home.
The Lift-A-Thon commitment papers are due Tuesday, Feb. 25, so please encourage your son to do his part.

I am emailing to ask for some help from home…
We are all very busy with second sports, fundraisers, golf tournaments, working to improve the athleticism and strength of our players, working to teach our FAMILY lessons that will help them become better men, and trying to become more prepared as coaches so that we can succeed next season. There are good days and not as good days with all of these things, but we continue to give our best effort.
One of the standards we have as a program is for all of the athletes to make A’s and B’s in their classes. This is something we work towards throughout the school year, not just during our season. We understand that this is difficult for some of the guys to do, so we have a tutorial system that we use to try to help them succeed. If a player has below an 80 in a class, his position coach gives him a tutorial schedule that he is expected to follow. The player is supposed to get the teacher’s signature on the sheet so we know that the athlete attended. If there was an issue (the teacher was not there), it is the student’s responsibility to let his position coach know and find a solution. We pass these out to the players on Tuesdays and the players turn them in on the following Tuesday. Depending on the number of athletes each coach has at their position, it takes around 30-45 minutes to check their position player’s grades, find the teacher’s tutorial schedule, and make the schedule for the player. If the players fails to turn in a completed sheet, there are consequences given to them during the athletic period. It is disappointing when we have to punish the athlete for not meeting the expectation, we shouldn’t care about their academic success more than they do…
The grade/tutorial system is intended to help these young men. As with everything we do, we are trying to develop qualities that will help the kids in our program become better young men.
What do I need from you? I am asking you to just talk to your son about his grades. Ask him if he received a tutorial sheet and if he is completing it. Help us, help your son, by stressing the importance of meeting the expectations that are set for him.
I have also attached our mindset training for the week.
Thank you for your continued support.
Below is a message from our booster club:
The Dawson Football Booster Club Nominating Committee has been hard at work recruiting officers for the coming year. At the current time, the committee has received nominations for all positions with the exception of VP-Ways and Means.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about Dawson Football, is willing to talk to local businesses and wants to help provide the best experience possible for our players.
This position is typically held as co-chairs because it is a large role and especially busy in the summer months leading up to fall kick off. We have current board members willing to guide and help volunteers for this position.
1. Reaching out to current and potential new Dawson Football sponsors to secure commitments for the new season
2. Delivering all promised sponsorship benefits, such as season tickets, parking passes, media guide and website ad placements, banners, plaques.
3. Assisting with securing sponsors and auction items for the spring golf tournament
4. Planning any other spirit night or fundraising events such as BBQ with the Coaching Crew
If you are interested or know someone who might be a good candidate, please contact Lee King, Nominating Committee Chair, at email@example.com or 281-755-6327.
Please join us in building the future of Dawson Football! Go Eagles!
